Why Registered Post Is Being Discontinued

According to an official circular dated July 2, 2025, the decision stems from declining usage, rising operational costs, and a broader modernization initiative within India Post. In 2011–12, over 244 million Registered Post items were sent. By 2019–20, that number had dropped to 184 million—a significant 25% decline.
“To streamline services and offer faster delivery with added features, Registered Post will now be integrated with Speed Post,” – India Post Official Circular.
